A central light-allowing double dome will be the center focus of Jean Nouvel‘s ‘Louvre Abu Dhabi.’ Inspired by the architectural history of the location, the design incorporates passive cooling techniques of regional buildings as well as woven palm frond roofs. The 180 meter in diameter dome references a mausoleum and helps define the light-dappled spaces that frame the sea and garden. The overall aim of the museum is to supersede the functions of a house and become a haven for cultural capital that combines calmness and complexity on it’s unique exhibit halls.
