Built primarily as a slatted timber box on a limestone base, the second floor of the property suggest a feeling of weightlessness while the bottom floor anchors the house to the cliff. Inside the ‘Point King Residence,’ the living accommodation are divided into separate sectors. Shared spaces inside the home are designed to bring family and friends together, while the private areas allow the property’s owners to rest and relax in a more secluded setting. Similar to European courtyards, each zone is centered around a communal entrance space. The architects’ desire to ‘ground’ the house is evidenced through the use of a carefully chosen palette reflecting the local climate.
