Located in Austin, Texas, Residence 1414 is a new creative restoration project by Miró Rivera Architects. Designed to connect with the historic neighborhood around it, Residence 1414 is traditional in structure with modern character. Originally built in 1940, the overall frame was maintained but given a broad update with new materials and design features.The bottom level of the residence is highlighted by floor-to-ceiling glass retractable walls, that open to the patio space in front of the long lap pool and sculpture by artist Sol Lewitt. On the other hand, the rooms on the upper level are built around the natural environment surrounding the home, where the green leaves of live oaks and palms contrast with the all-wood interior.
